Government works with small and distant communities through the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot. Living and working in one of these little towns allows international nationals to participate.

Advice from the community

Community recommendations are based on candidates:


(1) Plan to live in community

(2) Job offer and neighbourhood economic needs

(3) Work experience and talents

Education

An Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) report from a designated organization is required to verify a Canadian high school diploma or its equivalent.

Job Offer

For eligibility, candidates must:


(1) A minimum of 1,560 hours of paid work experience in the past three years, in a single occupation, applicable to multiple employers.

(2) Work experience can be Canadian or foreign.

(3) Work experience can be gained in the three years before the application, independent of breaks.

(4) Self-employed applicants aren't allowed.

Language Requirements

The candidate's employment offer's NOC TEER category determines the minimal language requirement.


(1) NOC TEER category 0 and 1: CLB 6 minimum language score.

(2) NOC TEER category 2 and 3: CLB 5 language score minimum.

(3) NOC TEER category 4 and 5: CLB 4 minimum language score.

A parent or grandparent super visa (permanent residence) application's processing time depends on the visa office and circumstance. Processing usually takes 8–12 weeks.


There is no upfront price for family sponsorship. Family sponsorship simply requires application and medical exam expenses.
