Step-by-step approach to British Columbia immigration

(1) Register with the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) so B.C. can compare your occupation, education, location, language skills, and remuneration to provincial labour market demands.

(2) A registration score is based on numerous parameters and entered into a category selection pool. Those who meet qualifications and score well are asked to apply for a provincial nomination in a draw.

(3) Candidates then have 30 days to apply through BCPNP Online. If you acquire a provincial nomination, you can apply for Canadian permanent residency.

BC Immigration Pathways

Skills Immigration

BC needs talented and experienced individuals to boost its economy. The Skilled Worker stream lets international professionals, managers, and other skilled individuals apply for permanent residency in B.C.

Healthcare Professional Category

The Healthcare stream lets B.C. health authority workers apply for permanent residency. This approach requires a doctor, midwife, or nurse practitioner.

International Post-Graduate category

Recent Master's or Doctoral graduates from qualified British Columbia institutions can apply for this stream.

International Graduate Category

Semi-skilled and entry-level workers

The AAIP has three streams for foreign workers planning to reside and work here:


(1) The Alberta Opportunity Stream: Qualified candidates living and working in Alberta with an offer to work full-time can apply for an AAIP nomination.

(2) Alberta Express Entry Stream: AAIP may invite federal Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residency. This stream offers the Accelerated Tech Pathway to competent tech workers.

(3) The Rural Renewal Stream: Qualified people with community support and an Alberta business employment offer to work in a rural Alberta community can apply for an AAIP nomination.

For Alberta-based entrepreneurs starting a firm, the AAIP includes four streams:

Summary of AAIP options

Alberta Opportunity Stream

Description

Under the Alberta Opportunity Stream, temporary foreign workers and international graduates from designated Alberta post-secondary institutions can apply for a provincial nomination.


Minimum required

(1) Need a work permit

(2) Work in an eligible Alberta occupation that matches your experience;

(3) A minimum CLB level of 4 or 5 depending on occupation

(4) Minimum high school degree

(5) Minimum 12 months of work experience in Alberta in the last 18 months or 24 months in Canada in the last 30 months.


Who cannot apply?

(1) The AAIP does not intervene in federal refugee claims, appeals, or removals.

(2) Non-Alberta temporary residents or foreign nationals without legitimate temporary resident status in Canada.

Alberta Express Stream

Description

Alberta can nominate Express Entry-qualified candidates. Alberta may invite applicants with strong ties to the province and the talents to boost its economy.


Minimum required

(1) Required Express Entry pool membership;

(2) Have expressed interest in permanent Alberta immigration;

(3) Must work in an industry that boosts Alberta's economy and diversifies;

(4) A minimum CRS score of 300.


Who cannot apply?

(1) A candidate whose Express Entry profile expires within 5 months

(2) If the principal occupation in Express Entry is on the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible 

(3) Occupations list and has a high submission volume across all AAIP streams.

Alberta Accelerated pathway

Description

Candidates working for or offered a position with an Alberta tech industry employer in a qualifying tech occupation can use the Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway to immigrate faster.


Minimum required

(1) Must have an Express Entry profile;

(2) Have expressed interest in permanent Alberta immigration;

(3) A minimum CRS score of 300;

(4) Must work or be offered a tech job in Alberta.

Rural Renewal Stream

Description

Candidates with an Alberta employer offer to work in a rural location can apply for the Rural Renewal Stream.


Minimum required

(1) Must have a full-time Alberta employer job offer or contract to work in an appropriate occupation in a specified community.

(2) Must have 12 months of full-time job experience in an approved occupation in 18 months before applying. This employment experience can be from Alberta, Canada, or abroad.

(3) Must meet language minimums.

(4) Required high school education equal to the Canadian norm.

(5) Must show they have enough money to maintain themselves and other family members moving within the chosen community.


Who cannot apply?

Refugees and those under federal appeal or deportation cannot apply for or be nominated for Rural Renewal.

Farm Stream

The Farmer Stream is for self-employed immigrants to Alberta to acquire or start a farm.


Minimum required

(1) Management abilities on farms

(2) Financial resources to invest at least CAD 500,000.

(3) Proposed business plans with AAIP applications include investment plans.


Who cannot apply?

(1) Candidates can only apply for one AAIP Nomination Certificate. Those with an active nomination that has not expired or is eligible for extension under another AAIP stream cannot apply.

(2) have received a letter on a previous AAIP application stating they cannot reapply for a certain time.

(3) have an IRCC or CBSA removal order.

(4) are a foreigner working or living in Canada without temporary residency.

(5) work and live outside Alberta as a temporary foreign worker

(6) Live-in carers in Canada 

(7) International students studying in Canada, especially those on co-op or internships

Graduate Entrepreneur stream

The Graduate Entrepreneur Stream permits the AAIP to propose competent international post-secondary graduates from Alberta who want to start or run a business in Alberta for permanent residency.


Minimum required

(1) Have two years of full-time education from an Alberta Advanced Education publicly financed post-secondary institution.

(2) EOI submission requires a valid Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).

(3) Maintain a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 7 for English and (NCLC) of 7 for French.

(4) Must start or buy an Alberta firm with 34% ownership.

Foreign Graduate entrepreneur stream

The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream allows eligible international graduates to start new enterprises in Alberta.


Minimum required

(1) Minimum 6 months of full-time business management or ownership experience

(2) Have an ECA-certified degree from a non-Canadian post-secondary school

(3) Clear financial business proposal

(4) English and French language skills must meet the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or NCLC of 5.

(5) Must have at least 34% ownership in an urban area or 51% in a regional location outside Calgary.

(6) Own enough settlement cash for themselves and their business

(7) Minimum personal investment is $50,000–$100,000 depending on the region

Rural Entrepreneur stream

Entrepreneurs or businesspeople who want to start or buy a rural Alberta business can submit an Expression of Interest.


Minimum required

(1) Have 3 years of active business ownership/management experience or 4 years as a senior manager within 10 years.

(2) Satisfied the Canadian high school standard with an Education Credential Assessment.

(3) Each English or French language skill must meet the minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) or NCLC of 4.

(4) Minimum personal wealth of $300,000.

(5) Personal investment of $200,000 minimum

(6) Must create one full-time Canadian or Permanent Resident job

(7) Own enough settlement cash for themselves and their business

(8) Minimum personal investment is $50,000–$100,000 depending on the region

IMPORTANT

Knowing the difference between base and enhanced PNP streams is crucial.


Enhanced streams match federal Express Entry. Only Alberta Express Entry is improved. Alberta may send a Notification of Interest to Express Entry candidates interested in immigration. They have two weeks to reply. Selected candidates must apply through the AAIP portal.


Every other Alberta stream is a basic stream. They are not Express Entry-aligned. Instead of being selected through Express Entry, interested parties must file an EOI through the province's AAIP portal.

Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program

Nova Scotia may nominate immigrants with the skills and expertise it needs through the NSNP. It's known for its arts, culture, and excellent standard of living.

Nova Scotia Immigration Streams

Express entry: experience

Here, skilled people who want to live in Nova Scotia permanently are chosen. At least one year of experience in Nova Scotia in TEER category 0, 1, 2, or 3 of the National Occupational Classification is required.


Eligibility

(1) 21–55 years old

(2) At least one year of Nova Scotia job experience

(3) English or French Canadian Language Benchmark ability

(4) High school diploma or equivalent in Canada

(5) Have an Express Entry profile with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.

Investment-Based Immigration

This Stream is for experienced business owners or managers who want to live in Nova Scotia. They must start or buy a firm and actively manage it.


How to apply

(1) Fill out the Interest Form

(2) If invited, applicants must complete the application form and provide supporting evidence.


Eligibility

(1) You must be 21 years or older, intend to live continuously in Nova Scotia, own and manage a Nova Scotia firm, have a net worth of at least CAD 600,000, and invest at least CAD 150,000 to create a business in Nova Scotia.

(2) At least 3 years of active business management and ownership OR 5 years of senior business management experience

(3) Complete an online Expression of Interest and get an Invitation to Apply from the Nova Scotia Office of Immigration. Minimum score of 5 on the Canadian Language Benchmark in speaking, hearing, reading, and writing in English or French.

International graduate entrepreneur

The International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream is for recent Nova Scotia university or community college graduates. This stream targets Nova Scotia business owners that have operated for at least a year.


How to apply?

(1) Fill out the Interest Form

(2) If invited, applicants must complete the application form and provide supporting evidence.


Eligibility Requirements: - 

(1) Will reside permanently in Nova Scotia while managing a business - Must have one year of experience managing a Nova Scotia business - Must have completed a degree or diploma from a Nova Scotia university or community college

(2) A valid post-graduation work permit

(3) Score at least 7 on the Canadian Language Benchmark in English or French speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Skilled worker

 

Nova Scotia firms can hire foreign workers and recent graduates with in-demand skills through this stream.


Eligibility

(1) Full-time permanent employment offer from Nova Scotia employer

(2) One year of relevant work experience.

(3) Must be 21-55 years old, have a high school graduation, and have the skills and/or accreditation for the work.

(4) NOC TEER category 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupations require CLB Level 5 language skills.

(5) Financial proof for Nova Scotia living.

International graduate in Demand

Recent overseas graduates with NOC job category abilities and education can apply to this programme. Nursing aides, orderlies, patient service workers, and early childhood educators and helpers.


Eligibility Requirements: - 

(1) Full-time permanent work offer from Nova Scotia firm in relevant field 

(2) Age 21-55 

(3) High school diploma 

(4) Course completion within three years of application A 30-week programme was required.

(5) Meet NS regulatory certification requirements for the work and demonstrate CLB Level 5 language ability, regardless if English or French is your first language.

(6) Financial proof for Nova Scotia living.

Physician

The Physician Stream helps Nova Scotia's public health authorities hire GPs, family doctors, and specialists. Medical professionals in shortage roles are recruited and retained through the stream.


Eligibility

(1) Be signed and dated by an NSHA or IWK physician-hiring official.

(2) Applicants accepting the chance must sign and date.

(3) Indicate NS College of Physicians and Surgeons licensure eligibility.

(4) Indicate that the candidate is eligible for NSHA and IWK rights and credentials.

Ontario Provincial Nominee Program

Human Capital

The Human Capital Category has two substreams. One is Ontario Express Entry. Substream programmes are tied to Express Entry. Another programme is Ontario Express Entry substream.


Ontario Express Entry sub-stream: 

(1) Human Capital Priorities: It matches the Federal Skilled Worker Programme and Canadian Experience Class.

(2) Trade Skills: Ontario workers in qualified trade occupations are eligible for this category.

(3) French-speaking professional: French-speaking skilled Worker applicants must be fluent in English and French.


Minimum Needed

(1) Minimum eligibility requirements for Human Capital Category streams:

(2) Need enough money for yourself and your family.

(3) Want to live in Ontario

(4) Must meet additional stream requirements while applying.

Employer job offer

Three immigration routes target foreign nationals with verifiable work offers from Ontario firms.


Foreign Workers Ontario:

This applies to international workers with an Ontario job offer. Job offers and Ontario employers must meet specific criteria to be eligible. Foreign workers must also meet specialized job experience requirements.


Job Offers for Ontario International Students:

This applies to international graduates of eligible Canadian institutions and universities with an Ontario job offer. Ontario employers and employment offers must meet specific requirements. International students also need educational eligibility.


Ontario's In-Demand Skills include low-skilled persons with employment offers from Ontario employers. The employment offer must be for an Ontario In-Demand Occupations List position.

Entrepreneur

The Ontario Entrepreneur Stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Programme targets experienced business owners or senior managers who want to live in Ontario. Successful applicants must create or purchase a firm they run daily.


The application process

(1) Register expression of interest.

(2) Candidates invited to apply have 90 days to apply online.

(3) Mandatory in-person interview at Ontario OINP offices

(4) If authorized, the applicant must sign a Performance Agreement.

(5) An applicant can apply to IRCC for a temporary work permit with a support letter.

(6) Applicants in Canada have 20 months to implement their business plan.

(7) If the firm meets all standards, the candidate must submit papers to be nominated for permanent residency.


Eligibility

(1) Ontario candidates must submit a detailed business plan.

(2) Candidates must demonstrate the desire, skills, and funds to run an Ontario business.

(3) Required: 24 months of full-time business experience in the last 60 months.

(4) The candidate needs CAD 800,000 in net worth. The applicant must also contribute CAD 600,000 personally.

(5) Must actively handle the business daily.

(6) Business must focus on profit.

(7) The company must create two full-time Canadian employment

Regional immigration pilot

Regional immigration experiment attracts qualified workers to rural and smaller Ontario areas to fill labour shortages. Candidates nominated through the Regional Immigration Pilot will be invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

Skilled Labour Outside Canada: This stream is for skilled workers outside Canada with an island employer's NOC Skill Level 0, A, or B offer.

Candidates for the Critical Worker stream in PEI must have at least two years of experience in semi-skilled and unskilled occupations.


PEI International Graduate

This stream is open to PEI-based post-secondary graduates holding a Post-Graduate Work Permit.

Business Impact

This stream targets experienced business managers and entrepreneurs looking to invest in provincial enterprises. It would boost the economy and create jobs for permanent inhabitants.


PEI Work Permit

PEI work permits one-stream business impact. It allows qualifying applicants to start a business in PEI on a temporary work visa. The applicant will receive a provincial nomination for permanent residency if the business has been operating for one year.

Express entry labour market stream

To satisfy New Brunswick's labour market and demographic demands, the Express Entry Stream targets federal Express Entry Pool candidates.


Eligibility

After meeting eligibility conditions, candidates are graded on age, education, language skills, work experience, job offer, and adaptability.


Minimum requirements:

New Brunswick accepts applications from those who want to create and run a business. The business requires an investment from applicants.


How does it Works?

Please submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the New Brunswick Department of Post Secondary Education, Training, and Labour. After meeting eligibility conditions, applicants are scored on numerous variables. The top candidates are invited to apply for NBPNP provincial nominations.


Applicant Qualifications

(1) Eligible New Brunswick connection.

(2) Between 22 and 55.

(3) Minimum 2-year post-secondary diploma.

(4) Must meet a minimum CLB 5 in English or French and have completed two years of full-time post-secondary education.

(5) Have a CAD 600,000 net worth, $300,000 of which must be debt-free.

(6) Invest $250,000 in a New Brunswick business and own 33%.

(7) Pay a $100,000 deposit and sign a Business Performance Agreement with New Brunswick.

(8) Business must boost New Brunswick's economy.

(9) Show business experience—three years of ownership or five years of senior management in the last five years.

(10) Enterprise strategy should demonstrate how the enterprise will benefit New Brunswick.

(11) Explore New Brunswick or attend a provincial government information session.

(12) Plan to live and work in New Brunswick.

Post graduate entrepreneurial stream

This stream is for foreign nationals who graduated from a New Brunswick post-secondary school and started a successful business.


Eligibility: 

(1) 22-40 years old

(2) Minimum language proficiency level of CLB 7 in English or French for reading, writing, listening, and speaking

(3) 65 out of 100 in New Brunswick's PGES points assessment

(4) two years of full-time post-secondary degree or diploma (15 hours/week) from a recognized New Brunswick university or community college

(5) residency in New Brunswick.

Skilled worker applicant with employer support

This stream targets qualified international workers with a New Brunswick job offer. The New Brunswick Skilled Worker Applicants with Employer Support stream immediately sends recommended candidates to IRCC for Canadian permanent residence.


Eligibility: 

Skilled Worker Employer-supported applicant:


(1) between 22 and 55.

(2) necessary English or French language skills to perform your work.

(3) possess the skills, credentials, and licences required for your position.

(4) live and work in NB. Your job offer is genuine.

(5) permanent full-time New Brunswick employee.

(6) job has one of the needed NOC skill levels

(7) Job is in a skill shortage sector and must pay industry standard.

(8) job meets New Brunswick employment standards.

(9) Provide all necessary forms and documents.

(10) score at least 50 selection points.
